Miguel Rios
Miguel Rios (known in Spain as Mike Rios or El Rey del Twist) was one of the pioneers of Spanish rock. He recorded both versions of his hit Himno a la Alegria for Polygram Records before recording its English equivalent A Song of Joy for A&M; its success reached number 14 on Billboard charts in 1970.
Rios was mentored in fingerstyle guitar and rhythm by Delta blues legends such as John Fahey and Lightnin’ Hopkins of Delta blues fame, 1960s American and British folk singers as well as books written by Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen on narrative song writing techniques.
His song of hope accurately captured the turmoil that was taking place around them, such as worker strikes, Europe reorganizing itself and nationalism rising to power. Additionally, it conveyed a powerful message – one which many young people wanted to hear – of love between men – which would soon become an international movement.

Raphael is an internationally acclaimed singer who has sold over 70 million records in seven different languages. One of the early pioneers of romantic ballad genre, he has performed extensively across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
Raphael was an apprentice of Perugino and his early works show his influence. Later works reveal Leonardo da Vinci’s influence through gesture and composition; additionally he adopted innovative techniques such as chiaroscuro and sfumato.
Raphael became engaged to Maria Bibbiena in 1514; her uncle Cardinal Bernardo Dovizi Bibbiena was an intimate of the Medici family. However, Raphael became entranced with Margherita Luti (Bakery Daughter). Their love affair is evident in several paintings by Raphael; including “Girl with a Band on Her Arm”, suggesting she might have been wearing an engagement or wedding ring but later removed during restorations.
