Singer Alaska was an icon of Spain’s groundbreaking Movida Madrilena movement during the ’80s, known for hosting humoristic TV shows and creating her band Alaska y Dinarama. Her fearless amalgamation of music styles remains an inspiration even today.
Raphael
Raphael or Raffaello Sanzio as he was known is widely considered one of the finest Renaissance artists. An incredible prolific artist, he ran an enormous workshop where his clients could commission him to create whatever they desired in exquisite style. Combining elegant sophistication with emotional depth, his Madonna depictions were never cold and distant like those done earlier by other artists; indeed his depictions showed much warmth and affection instead. Additionally he was highly educated with advanced knowledge across a broad array of subjects.
He relocated to Florence around 1504, taking inspiration from Leonardo and Michelangelo, but also creating his own artistic ideas in composition and style. Taking up the round – or tondo – format, which became immensely popular with Florentine clients, Giorgio Vasari speculated that his fever may have come about through too much sexual activity! Unfortunately he died at 37 from fever– and Giorgio Vasari suggested this may have been contracted through too much sexual contact!
Enrique Iglesias
Enrique Iglesias, son of global pop legend Julio Iglesias, has set records across genres. With sales exceeding 137 million albums worldwide and one of the best-selling Latin artists ever (he holds this position since 1977!), Enrique Iglesias has established himself as an English-language star as well. His crossover following continues to grow exponentially.
Enrique Iglesias was born in Madrid, Spain on May 8, 1975 and raised mostly by Elvira Olivares due to his father’s busy touring schedule. After attending Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami and nurturing an interest in songwriting as well as performing in a school musical; following graduation he enrolled at University of Miami to study business but dropped out shortly thereafter so as to focus solely on music.
Iglesias made headlines in 2008 with his release of Insomniac, his tenth studio album. That year he also recorded Can You Hear Me for the UEFA Europa League tournament and kept their relationship private at that time. Iglesias was widely known for his longstanding romance with Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova that remained undeclared at any point during that period.
